Pawnee County RWD #1 was founded in 1966 when a group of landowners identified a need for safe, clean drinking water. Those landowners joined together to create what is now a thriving water district with over 70 miles of water line serving over 950 households and businesses. Pawnee County RWD #1 encompasses approximately 29 square miles including most of the Keystone Peninsula and a 3.5 section along Higway 64 and a 2.5 mile section along Highway 48.

Water service restored 1/7/26
January 07, 2026
The water main break from earlier has been repaired and service restored. If you notice air (milky white) in your line, we recommend flushing through the cold water side of the bathtub or a single cold faucet in your home. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
